People’s approach to travel has changed radically in the wake of COVID-19. The fact of the matter is travel is still a risky undertaking. We should ideally avoid any unnecessary travel. People are delaying all kinds of short trips as part of a combined effort to slow the spread of this virus. But it is not necessarily realistic for everyone to avoid all travel for the foreseeable future, be it’s visiting family out of town or reporting back to work. We understand, travel for you is not leisure but essential. But with COVID-19 still very much around the corner, it is important to stay safe while travelling.

Following are a few measures to travel safely amidst the COVID-19 pandemic:

  1. If you are eligible, get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and allow your body some time to build protection after vaccination.
  2. Look for hotels and operators that are following COVID-19 safety travel guidelines.
  3. Save yourself unpleasant surprises and delays by checking for restrictions at your destination.
  4. Don’t forget to add face masks, tissues, alcohol-based sanitizers, disinfectant wipes and a thermometer to your packing list apart from the regular stuff.
  5. While traveling, always wear a face mask.
  6. Maintain 6 feet distance (2 meters) between you and others as much as possible.
  7. Avoid contact with anyone who is sick.
  8. Watch out for what you touch. Especially that phone of yours which is constantly being handled. So, wiping it down with disinfectant a couple of times a day is advisable.
  9. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover coughs and sneezes.
  10. Limit contact with frequently touched surfaces, such as handrails, elevator buttons, ATMs, check-in machines and kiosks. Use a generous amount of sanitizer whenever you touch any of these surfaces.
  11. Maximize the use of contactless options for payments.
  12. Refrain from eating or drinking on public transportation. That way you can keep your mask on the whole time.
  13. Remember, safety first. Even the best-laid plans may need to be set aside when illness strikes. Stay home if you are sick.

And do not forget despite these precautions, COVID-19 has not gone away — it remains a serious risk, but we understand travel is essential for you. Lastly, before committing to travel, check out for some exclusive deals on udChalo.
